(Pop) Miller, 77, of Elgin, a retired section foreman, died in a local hospital Aug. 16 following a short illness. Funeral services are scheduled at the Elgin Church of the Nazarene this Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. E.G. Vevig officiating. Burial will be in Elgin cemetery under direction of Snodgrass Funeral home. Mr. Miller was born in Wamic on March 14, 1879 and had lived in Elgin for 16 years. Besides his widow, Mrs. Sarah M. Miller of Elgin, he is survived by three sons, Newton G. of La Grande, Leroy D. of Elgin and Dale of Anderson, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Dee Beem of Elgin and Mrs. Kenneth Stowe of Anderson, Calif.; 17 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. ---------------------- The East Oregonian, Pendleton, OR., April 15, 1963, page 4 ELGIN SITE OF FUNERAL HERMISTON - Sarah Margaret Miller, a resident of Hermiston about three years, died here Saturday. She was born at Scio, Ore., July 30, 1884. Funeral will be Tuesday at Elgin. Burial will be in the Elgin cemetery. Mrs. Miller lived at Elgin about 23 years. Survivors are three sons, Newton G. of Portland, Leroy of Hermiston and Dale of Anderson, Calif.; daughters, Clara Beem of Elgin and Ila Tiemann of Santa Rosa, Calif.; three brothers, Chester Crabtree of Hermiston, Lester and Roy Crabtree of Maupin; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grand-children.
