In case not, I'm posting what I know about the Gerking/Spence connection. Francis Samuel Rice "Frank" Gerking was the first child of Samuel Isaiah and Martha Ann (Smith) Gerking, and he was my grandmother Della Winifred Gerking's brother. According to the book _The Gerking Family in America_ he was born 16 Apr 1887 in Eight Mile, Morrow Co., OR and died 5 Apr 1962 in Hood River, Hood River Co., OR. He and Louella Blanche Spence were married 28 Nov 1912. She was born 28 Jan 1890 in Gravel Lake, PA and died in Hood River 22 Jul 1952. Frank and Louella had three children rather than two. 1. Hallie Blanche Gerking was born 31 Aug 1913 in Hood River and married (1) Ferris McCoy and (2) Carl Cline. Hallie died in September, 1983 in San Bernardino Co., CA. Her first marriage produced two children. 2. Samuel Frank "Sam" Gerking was born 26 Nov 1916 in The Dalles, Wasco Co., OR and died 15 Apr 1981 at the Veterans Hospital in Vancouver, Clark Co., WA. He married June Melvina Paasch, and they had two children. 3. Lucille Bernice Gerking was born 26 Dec 1920 in Hood River and married Roy Heinrich. They had two children. As far as I know, Lucille is still living, although it's been several years since I've been in touch with her. I hope this helps. Beth
