Senior Will and Testament Article I We, the class of Nineteen Hundred and Thirty-nine of The Dalles High School, being of more or less sound mind and fairly impartial disposition, do ordain and establish this to be our last will and testament. The class as a whole bequeaths the following: To The Dalles High School - we leave our traditions as a worthy, though unattainable goal for their efforts. To the School Board - we leave the satisfaction and relief that should come from our graduation and will a vote of appreciation for all they have done for us. To Mr. Menegat - we leave the hall in peace or ? To Mr. McCulloch - we leave all our troubles. To the faculty - we give a vote of thanks for putting up with us as long as they did. To our advisers - we bestow our thanks for their grand assistance. To the boys of the junior class we leave the privilege of growing mustaches and to the girls of the aforementioned class we leave all of the junior boys. Article II Individually - we do will and bequeath the following: I, June Saunders, leave the name June behind forever and hereby shall be called Violet May. I, Pinky Wetmore, will leave, eventually, why not now? I, Bob Will, leave some darn good grades. I, Bill Chaffey, will the stool in the bank to Miss Whitcomb. I, Bert Hawkins, will my dirk column to the city dump with the rest of the trash. I, Ruth Cramer, leave my thousands of tardy slips to Mr. Swan with a smile. I, Swede Klock, leave when I wish and go where I please. I, Betty Milne, leave the bank books in perfect order and sincerely hope they are kept that way. I, Dean Newgard, leave with Phyllis. I, Edwina Ohlegschlager, will my last name to Frances Smith. I, Albert Rosa, leave The Dalles High School without a poet - unless, of course you count Chuck Swanson's rhymes. I, Doris Sims, leave the annual Steelhead for future admiration - I hope. I, Bruce Taylor, bequeath my book "Why Women Fall for Me" to Ace Crane. I, Ruth Thomas, bequeath my well liked laugh to the echoes of the halls. I, Dewey Wagenblast, will still blush. I, Verla Adkisson, leave Jim Linse for the junior gals to fight over; but gee! I wish I could take him with me. I, Art Berwick, leave the football team without a captain. I, Jack Brown, will my "way with the teachers" to Roger Dick - in case he needs it. I, Loretta Crockett, leave school for matrimony. I, Lewis Davenport, bequeath just one freckle to every sophomore girl. I, John Doyle, leave my lunch, left in a paper sack, to be found in locker 98. We, Louanna Grossmiller and Katie Sharp, will at least one dirty locker to the janitors. I, Janet Harriman, will my ability to get kicked out of the library to Helen Starkey. We, Hudson and Holcomb, leave our long, romantic courtship to Capps and Maynard, and wish them luck. I, Ollie Lash, bequeath the upholstering in my car to Vernon Kelly for his car. I Jordan Bohn leave Janet McLeod - Darn ! I, Ginny Lee, leave the minutes of the previous meeting to be read at the next. I, Ernie Hinkle, leave my nickname "Alkie" to Jack Bothwell. I, Ancil Payne, leave for Congress but may wait for Wilson. I, Ox Wilson, bequeath my inferiority complex to Mr. Hingston with all my love. I, Wilbur Kelly, leave a string of broken hearts among the weaker sex. I, Nick Kovtynovich, bequeath my vast sociological knowledge to the faculty in the hopes that they can make more out of it than I. Article III We, the authors, leave this manuscript and hope you like it - but think we better be going. Article IV We, the Senior Class, do hereby name and appoint as the sole executor of our last will and testament Mr. Paul A. Menegat.
