The reunion is for descendants of John GERKING and related families. John GERKING was born 27 AUG 1764 and married Rachael RICE in Jefferson Co., KY. They had 12 children, all of whom were born in Jefferson Co., KY. Members of the family moved to Indiana and other midwest states before many of them headed to Missouri, then moved on to other western points, particularly the Northwest, including Wasco Co. Some variations of the surname include GERKIN, GERKEN, GURKIN, GHERKIN.
