Georga and anyone else who might have been offended by my previous comments: I was merely asking if the poster was affiliated with the website, or did she have any personal knowledge of the site or its owners. I apologize if I offended anyone with my comments about the hucksters who have ripped off many innocent genealogists in recent years. The problem with the hucksters has been a particularly troublesome one for U.S. GenWeb, as our entire project is volunteer-based. The volunteers who have contributed many hours and megabytes of data over the years have a serious problem with commercial sites offering *our* data for a fee. More importantly, it is my job as list administrator to make sure this list abides by Rootsweb's terms of service, which include a prohibition on commercial advertising. There are only 3 ways a list admin can separate sharing from advertising: 1)if the poster asks permission before posting a link to a commercial site, 2)if the poster states s/he has no affiliation with the site, or 3)as a response to a list posting. My questions were earnest and my comments were meant to be explanatory. I didn't mean to make anyone feel they were under attack. I am genuinely hoping someone will know something about the new web site and I encourage its discussion on this list, as previously stated. -- Cheri
