Chris, Her name is Lorna Elliott and both you and Ron are correct regarding her. She literally bends over backwards to assist in genealogy as she has done her family research and knows the obstacles people encounter. I would invite all to visit The Dalles/Wasco County Public Library and meet Lorna. She is terrific. You will be glad to know, the Library is open and functioning again. I loved your descriptions though. Originally the plans called for a mezzanine but lack of funds prevented it being built. Thirty five years later, I think, it became reality. Rather than close the library during construction they chose to keep it open and serve the public. The staff did a tremendous job under such circumstances. You should see the library now! Magnificent! At least, we think so. I will pass on your comments to Lorna.
