    3. Meridith Keyes: Sorry, it is not the same Elvira and I do not know your people. Are you subscribed to <MOORE-L@rootsweb.com>? My great-grandmother was Elvira Mendenhall (1824-1899), Guilford County, NC>Peru, Miami Co., IN>Harrison County, IA> Wasco Co., OR. Elvira married Hiram C. Moore (1818-1869), Preble Co., OH>IN>Harrison County, IA -- they were married in Peru, Miami County, IN in 1842. Elvira had 4 sons of their 7 children migrate to Wasco Co., OR, which started with my grandparents, James W & Orrie E. (Greene) Moore & infant son, Orrin (my father) in 1877. They were followed by William H., Harrison "Phillip", and Hiram "Embree" - each with families. We are still trying to find just when Elvira came to Oregon. Elvira and her sons - James W., William H. & H.E. (plus wife of each) are buried in IOOF-Dufur Cemetery, Wasco County, Oregon. Thanks to Columbia Gorge Genealogical Society, who have very recently taken picture of these graves and others at Dufur. We are still looking for Uncle Phillip and family!
