Dear List, >From the pile of yellowed newspaper clippings: handwritten date of Sept 19, 1926 A pretty wedding took place at high noon Sunday when Miss Ruth L. Cooper and Alva B. Adkisson were united in marriage at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Cooper, by Rev. Charles A. Edwards, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church. The impressive ring ceramony was used. Preceding the wedding, "I Love You Truly" was sung by Miss Irma French, who was accompanied on the piano by Miss Cleone Andrews of Portland and Raplh Cooper on the flute. Mendelssohn's wedding march was also played by them for the occassion. The bride was attired in a gown of white georgette with a lace wedding veil, arranged on a coronet of orange blossoms, carrying a shower bouguet of pink Ophelia roses and lilies-of-the-valley. Miss Verna Pickel acted as bridesmaid, wearing a gown of pink georgette and carrying a bouquet of pink and yellow cactus dahlias. The flower girls, little Dorothy Vogle and Verla Adkisson, were also daintily costumed for their part in the ceramony. Glenn Cooper, brother of the bride, attended the groom as the best man. Following the ceramony. Miss French sang "At Dawning" and a reception was held for 65 assembled friends and relatives. The rooms were tastefully decorated rose and gold being the color scheme. The alter was emabnked in potted palms and autum leaves, while baskets of autumnal flowers were placed at either side and about the adjoining rooms. Mr. and Mrs. Adkisson will make their home in Portland, where Mr. Adkisson is a student in the Univeristy of Oregon Medical School. ********************************** The Havnar Family Network Family Internet Exchange http://havnar.home.mindspring.com/
