On October 11, 2003, Isidro and Juanita Saldivar celebrated their 50th wedding Anniversary. They were married October 11, 1953 in Harlingen, Texas. They moved To Kennewick, Washington in 1956 before moving to The Dalles in 1959. Mr. Saldivar worked and retired from Martin Marietta/Northwest Aluminum. Mrs. Saldivar worked and retired from Oregon Cherry Growers and School District #12. For their anniversary celebration the Saldivars were treated to a cruise aboard The Portland Spirit cruise liner by their children and family. More than 40 Family members attended. They traveled to the cruise liner by limousine after a Church service in Vancouver, Washington, where they were blessed by Fr. Hans Olsen. A wonderful time was had by all. The Salidvars raised five children; Isidro Jr., (Jay) and Shelly, Vancouver, Gene and Julie, The Dalles, Deborah and Greg Lewis (Andy, Rick and Dee, The Dalles), Robert (Bob) and Diane, Tigard, Oregon. They have 14 grand children and Two great-grand children. He was raised in Ellensburg and graduated from Yakima High School in the Class of 1938. He married Marybee Elvira Giffin on June 3, 1939 in Wapato, Washington. They Moved to West Seattle [Washington] where they lived for 55 years and raised Five children. In 1998, they moved to The Dalles to be close to their daughter And family. Bill worked for Burlington Northern Railroad and retired in 1980 as a Western Freight Claims Agent. He enjoyed trains, reading, music and gardening. He is survived by five children, Margery McKay, Longview, Washington; Mary Lynn Schreiner and her husband, Thomas, Aloha, Oregon; William Joseph Gould and his wife, Charlene, Auburn, Washington; Laura McGlothlin and her husband, Tim, The Dalles; Leslie Gould and her husband, Walter Lowrie, Tacoma, Washington; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Thornton, Julietta, Idaho and Margery Whitmore, Seattle, Washington. He was preceded in death by his Wife, Marybee on February 27, 2000 and two sisters. He was born July 4, 1916 in Kearney, Nebraska, the older of two children to Frank and Nellie (Carney) Wink and was raised in Kearney. Don settled in The Dalles in 1938 and the family owned and operated The Dalles Auction Yard. The family had additional auction yards in Redmond, Oregon and Goldendale, Washington. They also built NW Livestock in Hermiston, Oregon and Don owned and auctioned at NW Livestock and The Dalles Auction Yard until his Retirement in 1979. He lived in Hermiston from 1952-1979 and returned to The Dalles in 1979. Donald was also in the US Army from 1943-1946 and was with Company A of the 758th Railroad Shop Battalion in India for 23 months. He was Discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church and Oregon Trail Good Sam Club. He enjoyed gardening and RV [recreational vehicle] travel. Don is survived by his wife, Letha Mae (Petersen) Wink, whom he married on October 28, 1972, in La Grande, Oregon of The Dalles; his son and wife, Edward E. and Annette Wink, Kennewick, Washington; his grandson, Edward L. Wink, Irrigon, Oregon; his step-son and his wife, Larry J. and Jennifer Anderson, Milton-Freewater, Oregon; his step-granddaughter, Jennifer Lee Anderson, Los Angeles, California; four nephews and their spouses, Randy and Beverely Wink, Lubbuck, Texas; Dennis and Patricia Wink, San Diego, California; Russel And Gayle Wink, Bend, Oregon and Jeffrey and Shirley Wink, Gresham, Oregon. His brother, Bernard Wink and his step-son Randy Anderson preceded him in death. She married Lester Gordon And the family moved to Pilot Rock [Oregon]. He died in 1962. She worked at Pendleton Auto Parts, then moved to Hermiston where she worked For the Oregon State University Experimental Station for 15 years. She retired In 1979 and moved to The Dalles. In 1999 she moved to Garibaldi. Survivors include her son Irwin and daughter-in-law, Jan, Garibaldi; a sister, Veri May, Kennewick, Washington; a step-son, Clyde Gordon, Wasilla, Alaska; A stepdaughter, Grace Neely, Ashland [Oregon]; five grandchildren and many Great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 30 at 2 p.m. at St. Pauls Episcopal Church in The Dalles. A private inurnment of ashes will take place at Olney Cemetery in Pendleton [Oregon]. Ariel and Alice Morgan will celebrate 25 years of marriage on Sunday, October 19, at an open house at the Columbia Grange Hall in Lyle [Washington] from 24. Everyone welcome. They met while dancing at the Eagles Lodge in The Dalles. Upon getting Acquainted they soon discovered they had much in common. Both were born in small Oregon towns. Ariel in Moro and Alice in Dufur. They were both born the same Year 1916, in months beginning in J. Ariel in January and Alice in June. His Mothers name was Ivy and her mothers name was Iva. They both had names beginning in A and contained five letters. They became good friends and were married October 21, 1978 in Stevenson [Washington], attended by her son Joe Pinell and wife Peggy. They settled in her home in Dallesport [Washington] and together bought another Adjoining lot and a half on which they raised a big garden and shared vegetables With family and friends. In the early spring of 2003 a portion of the big garden yielded to a new house and at the ages of 87 they moved into it. But he hasnt Hung up his hoe yet! She worked as a cook for Wasco County Union School in Maupin, retiring after 32 years. The couple keep busy camping, golfing and spending time with family and friends. Joseph Kendrick Irby IV and Myra Sue Graham Irby celebrated their 50th Wedding anniversary on Saturday, September 6. The event was held at their sons House in The Dalles, where they shared a time of great food and fellowship with Their immediate family. Home movies of their wedding taken by Ed Irby in 1953 Were shown, then all children shared a memorable moment in their lives about What their mom and dad had meant, and still mean, to them. This was followed By a renewal of their marriage vows, and a continuing covenant with God to love, Nuture, respect and to continue to grow with each other. They have a total of five sons, five daughters, and eleven grandchildren all of Which range in age from 5 through 48 years of age. They attribute their many Years of marriage to always putting God first in their lives and to ask Him to Change their hearts first towards one another when conflict would arise. Don and Betty (Patton) Bright celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on September 4. Having met in high school, they were married September 4, 1953 In Berrien Springs, Michigan, by Reverend Frank B. Parker, pastor of the local Baptist Church. They were married in the home of Bettys parents and were Attended by Fred Merkel and Shirley Alexander Avery. After vacationing in Oregon in 1964, they decided to relocate and moved to The Dalles in 1966. Don is retired from Martin Marietta and Betty is a retired School teacher. [Text Only] Margurite Hock celebrated her 95th birthday August 17 with a celebration given by her daughter, Phyllis, and son-in-law, Clyde, at their home in Portland. Hock has lived in The Dalles for 50 years and is retired from Cherry Growers. She is the mother of seven and has 25 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren.
