W. Sunset Hwy, Portland, OR. phone: 503-292-6654. I have no idea if their records go back to 1922, but it would be worth a try. The funeral notice from the Oregonian says she died "in this city" - meaning, Portland, Oregon. It also indicates that there would be a follow up funeral notice, but I didn't find one in the Oregonian. So, maybe the funeral was at The Dalles. I did this for an ancestor and got a ton of information including a scanned copy of the funeral program. You can also check with the Oregon Archives to see if they have an obituary or one of The Dalles newspapers. The public library has a wealth of Wasco Co. information too. Good luck! I know this is really a long shot, but I thought I'd give it a try. Back in the 1970's, we advertently donated an heirloom pocket watch to a second hand store in The Dalles, Oregon (it might've been the Salvation Army downtown). It was a gold railroad watch that had belonged to my grandfather in the 1920's or 1930's who immigrated from Belgium to Portland and worked on the railroads. It had an engraving of a train on the back looking like it was coming towards you from right to left. At the time, the front glass was broken and it did not have a cover. If anyone remembers someone having bought a pocket watch such as this at a second hand store, or remembers someone showing it to them and they bought it there, I would certainly like to try to get it back to the family. Maybe someone has it sitting in a box somewhere at home and remembers where they bought it. Thanks for any help. Marilyn

The city paved the street around it. It sits smack in the middle of 12th street at the intersection with Court. If you don't know the history of it, you wonder why the weird rock is there. July 2011, ROAR Ministries with Aaron Auer, dressed as Rev. Jason Lee, held a Camp Revival at Pulpit Rock during Fort Dalles Days, in honor of the Methodist missionaries who became the anchor for white civilization here. The Dalles became the end of the overland Oregon Trail, and Fort Dalles became a central point during the Yakama Indian Wars. Pulpit Rock is the last physical remnant of the old Wascopam mission, est. 1838. The mission was abandoned in 1847 after the Whitman massacre, which is when long-brewing Indian hostilities finally erupted.
