John "Jack" Reid Morrison: ---third of 13 children born to John and Grace (Reid) Morrison; ---born Scotland 1857; ---went to Fairfield, Otago, South Island, New Zealand with his parents between 1858 and 1864; ---went to North America with parents and siblings in 1976, to Umatilla County, Oregon; ---farmed in the Monkland district east of Moro in Sherman County, Oregon when he had four children; ---deeded land to his cousin, Dan McLachlan, in 1899 -- Margaret McLachlan Woods reported that her father, "Old Dan" McLachlan, bought the Morrison Quarter from Jack, next to the site of the Old Monkland School, when she was about 12 years old; ---reportedly a stern man; ---lived in the Pendleton, Oregon area; ---went to Fort Langley, British Columbia, Canada, admitted to B.C. by customs officer June 1895; ---dairy at Hope, B.C.; ---reportedly... his sons were all named for their grandmothers' maiden names. ----- Sherman County Observer, May 13, 1921, Moro, Oregon: "J.R. Morrison, an early pioneer farmer of Sherman County, died Sunday night at his home at Hetzic, B.C. Mr. Morrison formerly lived in the Monkland section, farming what is now part of the McLachlan holdings. He was a brother to William Morrison of this city and a brother-in-law of R.J. Ginn."
