The East Oregonian Wednesday, June 11, 1997 Paul M. VanCleave Boardman— Paul M. Vancleave, 65, of Boardman died Monday, June 9. 1997, at his home. Graveside services will be Thursday at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Baker City. Mr. VanCleave was born May 7, 1932, at Hereford Ore., to Newton and Barbara Engelhaupt VanCleave. He was raised in the Unity area and attended schools there. He later attended college in California prior to going to work for the U.S. Forest Service in timber sale management. He was based in Baker County and later at Bly before his retirement in the mid 1980’s after more than 30 years. On March 2, 1996, he and his wife, La Veta, were married at Stayton. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with is children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, La Veta, of Boardman; sons, Daniel of Roseberg, Jon of Redmond; stepson, David Adams of Astoria; daughter, Jennifer Escalara of Sparks, Nev.; stepdaughter, Dianne Hanson of Seaside; brother, James of Baker City; sister, Rose Rawls of Emmett, Idaho; seven grandchildren, and six stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Archie and Johnny, and sisters, Mary and Ethel. Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in Charge of arrangements.
