    1. [ORUMATIL] Athena Cemetery - Masonic Section
    2. Greetings from California, I am a new subsriber to your list, but have spent many hours researching your county. My great uncle, Charles P Smith was a resident of Weston, but in 1897 he purchased a plot in the Centerville Cemetery (now Athena) from Dolph Lodge No. 80. Researchers have tried to reach the office repeatedly with no luck, so I wrote to the Grand Lodge for information. Their reply was that they had no info on the cemetery records, but did tell me that Mr. Smith had become a member of Weston Lodge No. 65 (now Wildhorse) in 1901 and, according to their records, died 29 May, 1916. Since he and his family do not appear in the 1920 census this seems reasonable, but he is not in the Death Index. A few questions for you all: How accurate is the ODI? Is the cemetery still active and, if so, is there a snail mail address? Might there be any records with the Wildhorse Lodge? Any ideas or info will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Ruth

    3. RUTH: The Oregon Death index is accurate in what it has, but in the early days not all deaths were reported. Just like most states. My suggestion is try for a obituary or funeral home records.
