Fern Rynearson DEATHS Ball, Anna McDuffee, Ona Mae Rhodig, Lola Rice, Marian H. Robertson, James Walter, Dan R. Wood, Rita Marie DAYS GONE BY 100 Years ago today The money was sent to Heppner this morning by Manager Fred H. Drake to insure the football team of that place coming to Pendleton. They leave tomorrow morning at 9:40 with about 50 "rooters". Pendleton boys are in the best of condition and a good football game is looked for. It is hoped that as many as can will attend, for the boys' expenses are very large. 50 Years ago today Baker - The first -of-its-kind bull sale sponsored by the Oregon Cattlemen's association Friday and Saturday at Ontario attracted a thousand participants and brought in $39,730, according to Marvin Wendt, president of the Baker County Cattlemen's association. A total of 78 bulls were sold at an average price of $509. Highest price paid was $1220 by Ted Graves of Burns for a bull owned by Irvin Mann's double M Hereford ranch at Adams. 25 Years ago today Hermiston - It was circus day Thursday for third grade students at Hermiston elementary schools. The circus was provided by the Hermsiton chapter of Future Farmers of America. Connie, a docile two-year old brown Swiss milk cow, probably was the greatest attraction of the farm animals. Students tried their hand at milking. One eight-year-old boy exclaimed, when he was successful in getting a squirt of milk, "Boy, this is real cow milk."
