Harrison Hale was said to have had several prosperous sheep ranches in the area of Umatilla Co. He was killed in the Bannock Indian uprising of 1878, at the Battle of Willow Springs, buried on Butter Creek, Umatilla Co, OR. Cynthia remarried to Fred Sherman, had 2 children by him, Bertha and a son. Fred is said to have gambled away the ranches, left Cynthia a pauper. She died in the home of one of her daus in Payette, Idaho.
