Surnames: NOLF, VANNUYS, RADER Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/zZB.2ACE/144 Message Board Post: Newspaper; The East Oregonian Pendleton, Umatilla County, Oregon Nolf Joseph The East Oregonian Monday, October 14, 1907 JOSEPH NOLF DEAD ______ WELL KNOWN PENDLETON BOY DIED AT SEATTLE. ____ Remains Arrived From Seattle Sunday Night and Interment Took Place Today in Olney Cemetery—Joseph Nolf Was Practically Reared In Pendleton and Was Well Known—For Many Years Clerk in Fred Nolf’s Stationery Store and Was Later Deputy Game Warden. ____ Joe Nolf well known in this city, where he passed the greater portion of his life, died Saturday in Seattle from the effects of cerebo-spinal Meningitis, and he was buried this afternoon in Olney cemetery. The news of his brother’s sudden death was received here Saturday evening by Ed Nolf, of the Alexander grocery store. Last evening the body of the dead man was brought to the city on train no. 2, accompanied by the father, John H. Nolf. At 4 o’clock this afternoon the funeral service was held from the Rader undertaking parlor, the service being conducted bt Rev. W.L. VanNuys. The funeral was under the direction of Integrity lodge No. 92, I.O.O.F., of which the deceased was a member. Joseph Nolf was 28 years of age at the time of his death. He had lived here for many years and was salesman in his brother’s stationery store on Court stret. He also served for s time as deputy game warden for this section and was well known.
