    3. Hi, Pat and Heidi -- This is a terrible way to introduce myself as the new list admin for Umatilla County, but I've not had time to do so since taking over those duties a few days ago. This is a message not only for the two of you but also for all Umatilla County listers. The Umatilla County Message Board at RootsWeb is now gatewayed to this mailing list. What that means is that any messages posted on the message board now will also show up on the mailing list. However, in order to respond to a message board post, you need to use the URL shown along with the message: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/zZB.2ACE/138 . An example of how messages coming in from the board look is shown below. A message board post that has come through the gateway is always identified as follows and contains a clickable URL for responding: >This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. >Surnames: George >Classification: Query >Message Board URL: >http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/zZB.2ACE/138 >Message Board Post: >Looking for family of Donald . . . [snip] In this particular case the person who posted the query about Donald George is not subscribed to the Umatilla County mailing list and since he or she is not subscribed to the list isn't going to see your thoughtful and helpful replies unless you reply using the board message URL that was shown in the message. When you reply on the board, your message will show up there and also on this mailing list. So go ahead and reply again, this time using the URL, and the person looking for Donald George will see your responses. They'll also come through to the list again, but that's okay. Happy weekend to all! Beth Perry Johnston Umatilla Co., OR List Admin
