The East Oregonian Friday, June 20, 1997 Verner E. Troedson PENDLETON- Memorial services for Verner Eugene Troedson will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, 241 S.E. Second, in Pendleton. Mr. Troedson, who celebrated his 90th birthday on Thursday, June 12, 1997, died less than a week later on Wednesday, June 18, 1997, at his home in Pendleton. He was born at the family ranch at Ella, near Ione, in 1907, to Thilda and Johan Troedson, Swedish immigrants. He attended the local school through the eighth grade when he started farming. During the Depression in the 1930’s, he purchased his own ranch in the Ione area and devoted the next 40 years to farming. On March 24, 1948, he married Margaret Brewster McGreer, who along with 12 year old daughter, Shirlee, joined Mr. Troedson on his ranch. The Troedsons retired in 1971 and sold the ranch to Eric and Marnie Anderson. In addition to farming, Mr. Troedson enjoyed the stock market, most sports, especially baseball, football, and boxing, and the Pendleton Round-Up, which he attended over 60 times. He also liked to travel and had made many trips to Sweden to visit relatives and, in 1960, participated in a People to People farming tour of Eastern Europe. He was a member of the Wheat League, the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, and had been a member of the Heppner Elks Lodge for 67 years. Survivors include his wife, Margaret, and daughter, Shirlee, both of Pendleton. He was preceded in death by brothers, Carl and Francis, and sister, Linea. Memorial Contributions may be made to The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, 241 S.E. Second St., Pendleton, OR 97801,; the Education Foundation of Pendleton, P.O. He had arrived for a visit at the Hutton home only about twenty-four hours before from Sunnyside Wash., but had been ailing for some time. Mr. Fry was born in Illinois, April 17, 1855, and was 76 years if age. He is survived by his wife and two sons. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Christian Church, Rev. Francis M. Arant officiating. Burial was at the Odd Fellows cemetery in charge of Munselle’s Funeral Directors.

The Milton Eagle Thursday, December 8, 1932 Francis M. Sample After a residence in this vicinity extending over a period of sixty years, practically his entire life. Francis M. Sample passed away last Friday at the home of his son, Leonard Sample, in Milton, aged 64 years. Mr. Sample was born on a farm near Walla Walla November 4, 1868, and moved to the Oregon side of the line early in life, residing in the valley all his life. While he had not been in the best of health for the past year or two, he was able to be about and attend to his customary duties up to within a few days of his passing. His last illness lasted but two days and heart trouble was given as the immediate cause of death. He is survived by a son, Leonard Sample, and a daughter, Mrs. John Daugherty. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Munselle chapel, Rev. Wilbur Torgerson officiating. Interment followed in the Odd Fellows Cemetery.

He drove for Ready Mix Sand and Gravel in Milton-Freewater for 11 years, retiring in 1984 due to ill health. Mr. Lewis was a member of the First Baptist Church, Milton-Freewater. They then moved to Lakeview, Ore., where he was supervisor of maintenance for the school district there. The Tuckers came to Milton-Freewater in 1975. Mr. Tucker is survived by his wife at the home, a son Thomas Tucker of Frenchtown, Mont.; a daughter, Marcene Tucker; his mother, Margaret Surring of Detriot Lakes, Minn.; a sister Beatrice Sharp of Detroit Lakes; three brothers, Vernon Tucker of Minneapolis, Minn., Louis Tucker of Woodward Okla., and Melvin Tucker of Jefferson, Wis., and four grandchildren.

    3. Frank C Cambell may be in City Directories of Pendelton also in Old Phone books theree from 890 to 1920 + unless he left the area or died. Born in 1855 by 1920 he would have been 65 yrs old by son's wedding. If he left the area after divorve, he wouldn't be in the City Directories or listed in ph books. The Pend Lib may very well have these as I found my granparents in them in 1920's. There would no doubt be a notice also in the newspaper if he closed up his Dentistry shop which he would have done if he left or died before he closed it also be a notice and a funeral notice. For many years she worked at the Pendleton Woolen Mills, retiring in 1968. She then moved to Redding to be near her son, but has returned for summer visits here many times. The East Oregonian Friday, April 13, 1962 Death Takes Ex-Resident WALLA WALLA- Cella G. Renn of Walla Walla, a resident here for almost 50 years, died at the Odd Fellows Home this week after a long illness. She was 82. Miss. Renn was once a resident of Pendleton. Born, March 2, 1880, at Silverton Ore., she was the daughter of B.F. and Theresa Renn. The family moved in 1887 to Pendleton, where Miss. Renn later worked for many years for the Hartman Abstract Co. She came to Walla Walla in 1914 to take care of her mother after her father’s death. In 1932, Miss. Renn accepted a position as children’s governess at the Odd Fellows Home here. She served in many capacities at the home until her retirement due to ill health in 1952, after which she stayed at the home as a member. Miss. Renn was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the Pythian Sisters. She is survived by a sister, Dora Christiansen of Pomeroy, and several nieces and nephews, including Mrs. J.B. Huntington of Walla Walla. Funeral was in the MacMartin and Chamberlain Chapel. Interment followed in the family plot at Mountain View Cemetery.
