    3. Does anyone have any Idea when Oregon changed from  rural route address to streets and house #'s. I grew up in Oregon outside of Canby in the early 60's and we had a rural route address.and a box #. How do they convert to streets and house numbers My parents had 30 acres outside of Canby it was down the road from a dairy about a mile. this was where we got our milk. Not sure how far outside of canby it was seems like about 20 mi but that could be wrong. Kathy

    3. Hi again I forgot about the death cert might try that as suggested but have you looked for her obituary or death notice.  There is  a newspaper in Dallas or Monmouth and then their is the one in Salem and a public lib probably Marion Co that did a look up for me.  Sometimes if they live close to county lines they may go there to be  buried i.e. Yamhill to the North.  jep ________________________________ From: "Jawcwarner@aol.com" <Jawcwarner@aol.com> To: orpolk@rootsweb.com Sent: Sat, August 28, 2010 1:53:05 PM Subject: Re: [ORPOLK] Murray & Hughes research Thank you, Joyce. 3. http://www.polkcountyhistoricalsociety.com/Home_Page.html I have had very good luck getting assistance from the Polk County Historical Society. They have historical information and genealogical information. Oregon Death Index, 1903-98 Oregon Death Index, 1903-98 Name: Hughes, Miriam A County: Polk Death Date: 14 Aug 1982 Certificate: 82-14071 Age: 87 Birth Date: 1 Jul 1895 Spouse: Pearl This death record would not be available through the Oregon State Archives, however, Miriam's grandson could probably get a copy through Oregon Vital Statistics. That would probably give you information on the cemetery where she was buried. 3. there are 22 Hughes in Dallas cem one of them is Pearl H. Hughes (1886-1957) Dallas cem vol 1:pg 73.  There is not a Miram A Hughes maybe she remarried?? I have Polk co death index 1903-1921; Index to the Cemetery Books of Polk Co, OR by Shirley O'Neil 2002; and all the cemetery books inc Dallas cem that have all names of interred remains.  She is not in the index or next to Pearl.  He is in Center 11 Blk; in that same area (there is no map to tell how this cem is divided up per say sections??) is a Hughes, Morris 1873- mar 1966 and a Daisey May "McBee" 1877-nov 1973 maybe his wife...Center 11 Blk.  Have you tried findagrave yet. These books were published and I bought them from Polk County Genealogical Soc. That is all I have it was interesting looking this up I have lots of family that used to live there MARKS AND BURRIGHT but I don't have any recollection of a Hughes in my tribe. good luck, joyce ________________________________ From: "Jawcwarner@aol.com" <Jawcwarner@aol.com> To: ORPOLK@rootsweb.com Sent: Fri, August 27, 2010 5:36:22 PM Subject: [ORPOLK] Murray & Hughes research Hi there! 1. [ORPOLK] TULLEY - STEWART Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph taken in Corvallis, Oregon in 1899 of a group of four including Lucien TULLEY, J. V. COLT, Anna, and Cleora. All four would appear to be in their teens or 20's at the time the photograph was taken. Surnames of the two young women are not included so I'm not sure if they are married to the men in the photograph or not. It could also be a school picture of some sort. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding those in the photograph: Lucien Allen TULLEY b. Nov 1873 in Wallowa or Amity or Cove, OR to parents Addison Levi TULLEY (b. 2 Mar 1840 in Dewitt Co. IL) and Alma Jane STEWART (b. 10 Jun 1855 in Amity, OR). The couple had 10 children including, Lucien Allen; Julia Ellen; Flora E.; Florence Hattie; Arthur Edgar; Jesse Elmer; Henry Melvin; Cora Olive; Mabel Elena; and Stewart Wendell TULLEY. The children were all born between 1873 and 1894. Lucien married Harriet Anna BURLINGAME b. 20 Jun 1877 in Salem, OR on 21 Jun 1899 in Portland or Benton Co., OR. Harriet Anna was the daughter of Martin BURLINGAME (b. 25 Oct 1848 in Thompson IL) and Emily PULLEN (b. 24 May 1857). Lucien died 10 May 1945. Census records provide the following clues: 1880 census of Wallowa, Oregon: Levi TULLEY, age 40, born IL, a Farmer, parents born OH/Ireland Alma TULLEY, wife, age 23, born OR, Keeping House Lucien TULLEY, son, age 6, born OR Julia E. TULLEY, dau, age 4, born OR Florence TULLEY, dau, age 2, born OR Arthur TULLEY, son, age 6 months, born OR Erasmus TULLEY, brother, age 42, born IL, a Farmer, parents born OH/Ireland James A. TULLEY, brother, age 35, born IL, a Farmer, parents born OH/Ireland Luther A. BARNES, nephew, age 23, born IL, Works on Farm, parents born IL 1880 census of Humboldt Basin, OR: Joseph H. 3. If this Wilma Moorman was born in 1917, she would be 17 in 1934, about the right age for high school. I didn't have any luck finding anything on Wilma but according to 1930 census, she had a brother named Wilfred. However, Wilfred died in 2008 in Grants Pass. I tried to check obituaries for the Grants Pass Daily Courier to see if there were any survivors listed but found you needed to have a paid subscription to check obituaries on line. Anyone in the Grants Pass area able to check an obituary? I tried calling the phone number listed in the Public Records Index but got no answer. --------------------------------------------------------------- 1920 United States Federal Census Name:Wilma Moorman [Wilma Moormann] Home in 1920:Portland, Multnomah, Oregon Age:3 years Estimated Birth Year:abt 1917 Birthplace:Oregon Relation to Head of House:Daughter Father's Name:Russel Father's Birth Place:Indiana Mother's Name:Vida I Mother's Birth Place:Iowa Marital Status:Single Race:White Sex:Female Household Members:NameAge Russel Moorman28 Vida I Moorman26 Arthur Moorman5 6/12 Wilma Moorman3 Source Citation: Year: 1920;Census Place: Portland, Multnomah, Oregon; Roll: T625_1501; Page: 2B; Enumeration District: 108; Image: 584. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1930 United States Federal Census Name:Wilfred Moorman Home in 1930:Portland, Multnomah, Oregon Age:9 Estimated Birth Year:abt 1921 Relation to Head of House:Son Father's Name:Rudell Mother's Name:Lida Household Members:NameAge Rudell Moorman38 Lida Moorman36 Arthur Moorman15 Wilma Moorman13 Wilfred Moorman9 Source Citation: Year: 1930; Census Place: Portland, Multnomah, Oregon; Roll: 1951; Page: 1A; Enumeration District: 299; Image: 1057.0. ------------------------------------------------------------- Public Records Index Name:Wilfred L Moorman Birth Date:Jul 1920 Street address:111 Rogue Manor Pl City:Grants Pass County:Josephine State:Oregon Zip Code:97527 Phone Number:541-476-7254 Record Number:32804687 Associated Persons:NameEst. I would assume that there would be a picture of Wilma Mooman in the Junior class (terms 5 & 6) in the school year book called the Lens. The four school years were divided into two terms when I attended and therefore assume it was true prior to my attendance. I am not related to this subject but do hope someone else sees your message. You may have better luck by posting it in Multnomah County Oregon rather than Polk County. (I was born in Polk County and attended grade school there, but high school in Bremerton, Washington then back to Portland during WWII.) I have found a SCHOOL DISTRICT No.1, MULTNOMAH COUNTY. THIS CERTIFIES THAT WILMA MOORMAN HAS COMPLETED THE ELEMENTARY COURSE OF STUDY. This is some kind of certificate. It is in very good shape. It was found in the LENS a 1934 WASHINGTON HIGH SCHOOL Yearbook. From Portland, OR.?? She is listed in the sixth term in 1935. I am not sure how the terms went? I am not related to this person and I have not done any research on this family. Kathy Jerman
