Verla - Oregon has a death index. It is available on microfilm, at most Oregon libraries, but more importantly, at the Family History Library. You can order the film in and check it yourself. I believe that you can also send an email request to the Oregon State Archives, and they will check the index for you. At least, I believe this is one of the types of searches they will do.
