    1. [ORMULTNO-L] Verden Moffitt and kin
    2. Verdena Veelle
    3. I am in contact with an ancestor of Verden Moffitt. I first found this name on the list of records that the Oregon State Archives has within the 1895 Census for Marion CO. I was interested because of the similarity to my maiden name, Verdena Moffitt. Although I received a copy of the census entries I cannot find them in my disorganization. This person is interested if there is a connection to my line. His information consists of the fact that his father was Verdan M.MOFFITT and his grandfather was A.T. MOFFITT. His father was at one time the chief of police in Salem, OR. I would estimate that to be in the 20's or 30's as he was three years old at the time of the 1895 census. Verdan had a twin sister Velma who lived and died in Portland, OR and was married to a BLACKBURN. His brother Victor MOFFITT (born Mar 19, 1895) was apparently the Baby MOFFITT listed and died in McMinneville, Yamhill CO in 1968. He left two children. Other members of the household in 1895 were Baby MOFFITT; C.E. MOFFITT; and T.E. Moffitt . This gentleman was born in 1926 and would like to find information. He has no computer. He says that he thinks he has many cousins in Oregon but is not in contact with any. He lives in Whittier, CA. I would like to help him make some connections so if there is anyone out there with any information, please contact me. He mentions a town by the name of Verden and there are many any in his family with this first name. I would think it might be from a maternal side however because that is located in Poland and at one time in East Prussia. The Moffitt's seem to be primarily from Scotland.
