> Hi, I just received copies from a 1929-31 probate file from Multnomah County Court. The court ordered that the executors post notice of the probate in a newspaper called "Sunday Welcome of Portland, Oregon." Has anyone heard of this paper? Is it part of one of the local papers or was it a paper special to those times? Thanks. shaunta< According to their inventory, the University of Oregon has only the following issues of this paper: Dec 21, 1879; May 7, 1882 ; May 14, 1927; June 28, 1930. According to "History of Oregon Newspapers" by George S. Turnbull, the Welcome was owned by J. F. Atkinson, who had previously published the "Evening Bulletin," and later published the "Sunday Chronicle". The Welcome began publication in 1875. It doesn't give a date of final publication. So the answer to your question is, it was a separate paper - published only on Sunday- but it looks doubtful as to whether there are copies of it available.
