You can get those on microfilm at Multnomah County Library, at Oregon Historical Society, or if you need a later night source, Portland State University has them, as --I would imagine-- might other University libraries. There is an index to the Portland newspapers, on microfiche. You should check there before going through the papers day by day. It's available at Multnomah County Library, The Genealogical Forum of Oregon Library, and at Portland State University. I don't know if Oregon Historical has it - I've not used it there, anyway. It indexes only the (paid) full obituaries. If you don't find them in the index, be sure to check the paper anyway, presuming you have a death date. The ad-styled death and funeral notices sometimes have just as much info, but they weren't indexed.
