Lon Mason in Arizona< Lon - There is an Oregon Death Index which covers 1907 to current. Birth records are closed for 100 years by law, so no index is available. But, the city of Portland has both a Birth Register spanning from 1864 to 1917, and a Death Register from 1881 to 1917. They are both available on microfilm - I imagine that the LDS has them. There is no index, and both are chronological in order.
