Reference Staff Multnomah County Library< Which means that an obituary did not run in a Portland paper. Looks like Vancouver would be your best bet. Of course, there should probably be a death or a funeral notice - the classified ad type. Sometimes that has enough info to be useful. Those were not indexed, only the large news-type obituaries. I'm glad to hear they answered so promptly, though.
