Eastside Journal, Bellevue, Washington January 16, 2000 p. A4 M. Patricia Broadwell M. Patricia Broadwell of Issaquah died Jan. 12, 2000, at Overlake Hospital. She was 80. Mrs. Broadwell was born Nov. 7, 1919, in Portland, Ore. She spent her childhood traveling with her father up and down the Columbia River on various vessels he worked aboard. She later attended business college in Portland. She had lived on the Eastside for two years. She married Rolland Broadwell in 1942 in Fort Belvoir, Va., as he was finishing officer�s candidate school in the Army. She accompanied her husband during his military career as he served in the Philippines, Japan, France, San Francisco and Cambodia. The couple moved to Washington, D.C., after her husband retired, and she worked as an administrative assistant to the director of the Counter Intelligence Division at the Pentagon. The couple moved to the Oregon coast in 1975, and Mrs. Broadwell was active in the local Power Squadron, holding various offices in the organization. She also volunteered at the local maritime museum and was an active member of the Columbia River Historical Society. Her husband died in 1994. She moved to the Bellewood Retirement Center in Issaquah in 1997. She enjoyed interior decorating and playing bridge and bingo. She is survived by her children, Pat Hammon of Redmond, Robert Broadwell of San Francisco and Bill Broadwell of Fort Worth, Texas. A memorial service will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Bellewood Retirement Center, 3710 Providence Point Drive S.E., Issaquah. Flintoft�s Issaquah Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
