I received the following question and do not know the answer. Perhaps someone else might be of some help to Deborah Walters, dwdwone@direct.ca Dear Mr. Porter, I am my families genealogist and I am writing to you with the hopes that you might be able to assist me in locating some information on the death of my great grandmother Annie Trombley. My great grandmother spent her declining years in a rest home in Portland, Oregon. The rest home was the Hazelwood home which was located at 13007 North East Glison, Portland, Oregon in the 1940's and 1950's. >From research and help on several Washington and Oregon lists I have ascertained that there is a rest home on the above mentioned site to this day... however I have contacted them and they have informed me that their particular building was erected in about 1960 and they do not know where the previous homes records might be. What I'm hoping you might be able to provide me with is information on the original home and where it's records might be located. You see my great grandmother passed away between the years of 1944 and 1953 (sadly no one seems to remember), what I am hoping to find out is what year she died and to locate her death registration. I have searched the Oregon Death indexes that are online as well as having a researcher have a look in person. My problem is that my great grandmother's surname was often misspelled (her son's death record was found after 100's of possible combinations were tried, his name was Leo Trombley and it was spelled Tromrley) and after searching endlessly I haven't been able to locate her. My great grandmother's name was Anna (called Annie) Maria/Marie Trombley (nee Martin). She was born in approximately 1876, what I hope to find on her death registration is her birth place, date of birth and parents names. I was given your name by a kind list member who thought that you might be able to help me... Please if there is anything you can do I would appreciate it greatly. Sincerely, Deborah Walters BC, Canada
