Dear Peggy, Have you attempted to locate the funeral home that may have been in charge of arrangements? If not, perhaps a few calls to the local funeral homes may turn up his name, and original burial place.... I have a page with most tele numbers ..... Portland,OR - Vancouver,WA Cemeteries dont know if it will help, but ?? thanks pat
Does anyone know if Portland required a burial permit in 1926? WALFERN LEGGE died in 1915 and was moved to Pioneer Cemetery in 1926. The cemetery records do not indicate where he was moved from. I have checked death records for Oregon, Washington and California (the most likely locations) without success. Any other suggestions? Peggy Johnson Mount Vernon, WA brj@fidalgo.net

Oregon Archives was not able to locate Hattie Chamberlain ROGERS' (my g-grandmother) death certificate. She was married to William H. (Will) ROGERS and lived in Troutdale. I am beginning to wonder if they may have been divorced. Does anyone here on the Multnomah Co. list have access to a divorce index? It would have been after 1914 and before 1921, when he married again. My best guess would be about 1915. Or, perhaps you could tell me where to write. Thanks, Dorothy in Soquel, California
Am looking for an obituary for my cousin Charles A. Orr who died March of 1976 in Portland, Oregon. Thank you for any help or information you can give me. Bobbie
Hi Listees, or is it Listers? Well anyway, I have a question. Does anyone know if there was a nursing home at 218 Stanton St. in Portland in 1928? This address is very close to Emmanuel Hospital. Thanks, Nancy
Message text written by INTERNET:ORMULTNO-L@rootsweb.com > Are there any indexes for BMD like there are in California? If so, what years do they cover? Thanks for your assistance. Lon Mason in Arizona< Lon - There is an Oregon Death Index which covers 1907 to current. Birth records are closed for 100 years by law, so no index is available. But, the city of Portland has both a Birth Register spanning from 1864 to 1917, and a Death Register from 1881 to 1917. They are both available on microfilm - I imagine that the LDS has them. There is no index, and both are chronological in order. Nancy < Nancy - First, we need to know from what time period these addresses are. House numberings changed a few times over the years - My guess is, this is early, since there is no N, S, E, or W designation as there is today.
