Dear Linda: Thanks so much for posting the Aurora story. My folks came over the trail to the Willamette in 1853. I have visited Aurora and now better understand the spiritual basis for that community. My Joneses buried a son, Willie, in 1855 to start the pioneer cemetary in Brooks, Oregon, a few miles South of Aurora. I wonder what the predominantly English community thought of these hardworking Germans. Did most of them respect their industrial ways of were they regarded as "foreigners".
