    1. [ORMARION-L] Wilson family
    2. Karol Gale
    3. I am searching for any information related to my ancestors who came to Oregon prior to 1890. The bits and pieces I have are as follows: George W. Wilson, wife Martha, sons, William Henry, Ananias, Joseph, James Lewis, Albert A. and Clarence. I believe they came after the first two or three were born, then the others born in Oregon. They were in or near Lake Labish - I do know that the 2nd son, Ananias was in the 3rd grade there. Later the family lived in Marion, and possibly in Jefferson. George W. Wilson died in 1933, and I do not have a death date for Martha. Anybody with any information regarding this family, I would love to hear from you. Thanks, Karol Wilson Gale kgale@jps.net California -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Gale Family Page:http://www.jps.net/kgale Family Research:http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/g/a/l/Karol-J-Gale -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    2. I am looking for information on my uncle David Ralph Marcrum and his family. As a child I was robbed of knowing of my relatives, one being my uncle. David was born November 2, 1916 and died May 28, 1992. According to the Social Security Death Index, David's last residence was Salem, Oregon. I am hoping to find someone who is EXTREMELY generous, and would be willing to looking up my uncle's obituary in the local Salem, OR newspaper if they have access. I would also appreciate anyone with knowledge of David's family to please contact me directly. Thank you. Shonda I. (Marcrum) Milligan

    1. [ORMARION-L] researching John Albert See, called Johanne See on marriage certificate
    2. Sylvia See
    3. I am looking for anyone who may have information on the See families in Oregon. We just received the homestead records of Our grandfather, John Albert See, who homesteaded in Alberta Canada. These records show that he stated his age as 34 when he applied for his homestead and the document is stamp dated Sept.5, 1913. These records also show birthplace county USA and sub division of country birthplace as Oregon. He made his request for homestead from Missouri, was married at that time with wife and 5 children. We have a photocopy of John's marriage certificate to Rebecca Colter in Unionville Missouri and it shows the spelling of John as Johanne See. This is the only document we have so far with this spelling for John. We are trying to obtain a birth certificate of John so that we can find out for sure his parents names. If anyone on the list has any information that may help us pinpoint an area in Oregon to begin our search in obtaining this documentation it would certainly be appreciated. We have a birthdate on his death records given as March 3 1877, but we believe that this information was given by family members and may be in question, when looking at the homestead records we believe a more accurate date would be 1878 or 1879. I would be happy for any information on a John See born March 1877-1879. Thanks in advance for any information someone may have and a Very Happy New Year to everyone on the list. 1. [ORMARION-L] John Goodell & Dalinda Rhoades >Oregon 1847
    2. Jim St. John
    3. I am looking for ancestors and descendants of John Brown GOODELL and his wife Dalinda RHOADES GOODELL. John was born on 18 June 1820 in Genesse Co. New York. Dalinda was born on 21 July 1825 in Clermont Co., Ohio. They were married on 3 Aug. 1843 in Fulton Co., Illinois. John B. GOODELL died suddenly of a lung hemorrhage on 22 Feb. 1975 at Champoeg and is buried in the Champoeg Pioneer Cemetery. Also buried in this cemetery are John's sisters-in-law Mary and Pheobe RHOADES and his sons Christopher Columbus and F. Marion GOODELL. Dalinda is buried in the Oakville Cemetery near Peoria, Oregon alongside son-in-law and daughter William and Cynthia GOODELL ST. JOHN. John and Dalinda had at least 7 children. Their daughter (and my great grandmother) Cynthia Ann was born on 6 Sep. 1849 on the Pudding River near Hubbard, Oregon Territory. John and Dalinda traveled over the Oregon Trail in 1847 with John's brother Lyman GOODELL and Dalinda's mother Eliza Vashti BLACKINGTON RHOADES. Dalinda's brother George RHOADES also came to Oregon in 1847 and her brother Alphonso RHOADES came to Champoeg prior to 1850. It is possible that they were in the same wagon train as John and Dalinda. John and Dalinda settled their Oregon Donation Land Claim (certificate no. 2539) at the Oregon City land office on 5 April 1850. Their land claim was located on Champoeg Creek about 1 mile south of the Willamette River at Champoeg. John B. Goodell's and the Rhoades brother's land claims are shown on a 1852 map of the Champoeg vicinity provided in J. A. Hussey's book "Champoeg, Place of Transition". In 1862 Maria RHOADES (Alphonso RHOADES' second wife) was granted guardianship of Alphonso's children. It seems that Alphonso was a fugitive from Justice and absent from State. Maria divorced him and remarried a year later. John B. Goodell was granted guardianship of Alphonso's children in 1869. I believe Alphonso went to the Willapa Bay area in Washington since one of his adult sons and his mother Eliza went there about the same time he disappeared. Eliza is burried in the Bruceport Cemetery, Pacific Co., Washington. I do not know what Alphonso supposedly did or if he ever did return to Oregon.

    1. Re: [ORMARION-L] To Dena, re: Eberhard
    2. Hi, Dena; Saw your entry regarding Bernard G. Eberhard. I have no information specifically on that person, but would like to offer a suggestion. I have done research on many German ancestors for thirty years and have found one thing in common. You can never be 100% sure of the first name. Because of naming practices, there' s a thing called the "rufname" which is the one the person used commonly. Then there's the name they were actually given when christened or baptized and sometimes one or two in between. In other words, your family history may indicate his name was "Bernard" or "Bernard G." when church records (including some burials) use his original name, which may have been Johann Bernard Gerhard, or even Gerhard Bernard. You get the idea. I find it works better to verify the dates or approximate ages of the persons buried where you think he might be, and then check further into the record to see if there's a possibility he is actually there, but the name is one you are not familiar with. Good luck Ann Bergelt Florida

I have started a new page on the Nodaway, Atchison and Worth Co's Missouri pages for folks to post their lineages. I have TOOOOO many 'M's in my address book and just wasn't paying any attention to it until I hit the "Send" button. However, since I did accidentally post my instructions for sending a lineage to Marion County, AND, since I do have relatives that left northwest Missouri and settled in your wonderful county, I invite all of you on the Marion County list to send your Atchison, Nodaway or Worth county lines and we'll see what happens. 1. [ORMARION-L] Converting FTM - GEDCOM files
    2. Beverly Gardner
    3. I'll post this to the lists for everyone. You know what. I'm BRAIN DEAD. I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier. It's something I do all the time. DUMB ME!!!!! (Am having a major Brain malfunction I guess!!) The heck with the GEDCOM. This way is MUCH, MUCH, MUCH easier. IF you are using Family Tree Maker. Sorry guys, I don't know anything about the other programs. Bring up the person that you want to start with and do an "Outline". You'll need to change a few of the options on this, but I'll take you through it. All of these changes are under the 'Contents' option. First change the number of generations to include to 4. This will include all of the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Next, with the NAME, (right hand column), highlight it and the 'options' box will appear so you can open it. Change the name option to Last, First, Middle. You can leave the 'aka' portion checked if you want. Now, the dates. Use the Birth, Death, and Marriage, and in the options part of all three of these, make sure the Date and Comment/Location is marked. The other options on these you can leave as they are. If you have information in any of the 'Fact' fields or anything else you want to include, feel free to add them also. The reason I like the LAST name first, is the last name is generally what a person scans a document for first. Even though the last name appears in all caps, I personally just find it easier to locate someone if the last name is first. And, Last Name first is the way I was taught!!!! Now that you have all of the information you want included in your Descendants of 'Whomever', go to the 'Edit' option and you'll see 'Copy Outline Descendant Tree'. Click on that and it will copy the info you have on the screen in your Descendants outline. However, you might before you do this, make sure you have your word processing program open. Now, switch to your word processing program and use either your 'Edit' 'Paste' or Control key and 'V' to paste the info. I wouldn't use the 'paste' icon as it has a tendency not to work or not work properly. Don't worry about what the outline looks like after you have in your word processing program, as I'll have to do some editing with it when I convert it to HTML and do the indexing. You can also add any notes you want while you have it in your word processing program. Please make sure you have your name in the file also. I can get your email address from your message. I have both WordPerfect 8 and Word (whatever the WIN95/8 version is). Make sure when you email the file to me, you send it as an ATTACHMENT and not part of the message. If your Descendants Tree isn't but a page or two, you can also just copy it to your email message, but I would suggest you use the 'control' V to do this. Eudora doesn't paste if you use Edit-Paste (or at least mine doesn't!!!) Let me know if I can help you with any of this. I have a tendency to be a little confusing. Thanks for all of the responses regarding this. I really couldn't believe the first message I got was part of some of whom I was looking for. I think I'm still a little in shock from it. WOW.
