Another very helpful site is a link on that same URL "http://www.mit.edu:8001/geo": http://mapping.usgs.gov/www/gnis/gnisform.html This is an advanced form and is slower, but gives you much more information if you set back and figure it out. For instance you can put in Marion for County, Oregon for State, and pick any of the feature types and it will give you a list of all of that type of feature in Marion County. Can be very useful, but don't get upset, it is sometimes very slow. >From: Dale West <dwest@banet.net> >Reply-To: ORMARION-L@rootsweb.com >To: ORMARION-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: [ORMARION-L] Corvallis, Oregon >Date: Wed, 05 May 1999 10:11:53 -0400 >MIME-Version: 1.0 >From ormarion-l-request@rootsweb.com Wed May 5 07:08:02 1999 >Received: (from slist@localhost)by bl-14.rootsweb.com (8.9.3/8.9.3) id >HAA02618;Wed, 5 May 1999 07:07:41 -0700 (PDT) >Resent-Date: Wed, 5 May 1999 07:07:41 -0700 (PDT) >Message-ID: <373051A9.7BED2101@banet.net> >X-Mailer: Mozilla 4.5 [en] (Win98; U) >X-Accept-Language: en >Old-To: ORMARION-L@rootsweb.com >Resent-Message-ID: <2Rudg.A.xo.tCFM3@bl-14.rootsweb.com> >Resent-From: ORMARION-L@rootsweb.com >X-Mailing-List: <ORMARION-L@rootsweb.com> archive/latest/75 >X-Loop: ORMARION-L@rootsweb.com >Precedence: list >Resent-Sender: ORMARION-L-request@rootsweb.com > >Is Corvallis in Marion County? > >-- >Dale West >e-mail: dwest@banet.net >Visit West Family Genealogy >http://www.westfamilygenealogy.com > > >==== ORMARION Mailing List ==== > ))) > *))))* > ((0 0)) > +-----------------(_)----OOo------------------+ > Send comments about the this Mailing List to: > > Linda Nichols linred@hotmail.com > > Marion County, OrGenWeb Homepage > http://www.rootsweb.com/~ormarion/ > > +-----------------oOO-------------------------+ > /_______\ > || || > ooO Ooo > > > > _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web. Verdena: Sorry it took so long, but I could not remember who did the lookup for me in the 1895 census. It was the Archives, here is their inventory on census': Oregon State Archives: Census [Enumeration of the Inhabitants and Industrial Products of Marion County-with index], 1895 (3 volumes, 1 reel of microfilm); Census [Enumeration of the Inhabitants and Military Enrollment of Marion County-with index], 1905 (2 volumes, 1 reel of microfilm); Census Records [Abstract of Assessment and Census], 1865 (1 volume); Census Records [City of Aumsville], 1905 (.05 cu.ft.). Send your request to: reference.archives@state.or.us They do charge, but very little. If they don't find anything they don't charge at all. >From: "verdena" <vveelle@teleport.com> >Reply-To: ORMARION-L@rootsweb.com >To: ORMARION-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: [ORMARION-L] Fw: 1895 Marion County, OR census-Moffitt >Date: Sun, 2 May 1999 20:12:10 -0700 >Would anyone have access to the 1895 Census for Marion County, Oregon for a > >lookup? Benjamin Franklin Nott, b. 1862, is age 18 in the 1880 Marion County census (thanks Cathy). He is married in Marion County in 1887. By 1900 he is a Dentist in Fossil, Wheeler County, OR. Does anyone know if there was a Dental School in Marion County circa 1880? I'm not even sure if you had to go to Dental School during that era. Rick Monroe Long Beach, CA
Benjamin Franklin NOTT married Sarah E. Lewis, 2 Jan 1887 in Marion County, OR. I am looking for the parents of Benjamin. Anyone with information or interest in this family? Rick Monroe Long Beach, CA

I am trying to locate information on my 2nd great grandaunt, Rosilla Ann (West) Dorsey. In Pickens Co., Georgia Heritage 1853-1998, on page192 under the John Henry Dorsey family. Joshua Denny son of John Henry Dorsey b.1-16-1816, d.4-16-1904 and Sarah Denny. Joshua was b.3-16-1839 in S.C. married Rosilla West b.1843. Joshua Denny Dorsey was the Pickens County, GA, Probate Court appointed executor of Rosilla's fathers estate in 1862. Folklore passed down in the West family by Rosilla's sisters and brother claim Joshua and Rosilla moved out to Oregon shortly after the Civil War ended. Rosilla's parents, Eber and Elizabeth (Rippy) West, both died of smallpox in 1862, within weeks of each other. This left 4 young orphaned children (3 girls and 1 boy) who migrated to Texas with another older sister, Roxanna (West) Reed around 1869. After Rosilla or Joshua left Georgia the West children never heard from them again. I have been trying to track them for several months to no avail. Recently, I received information from a great grandchild of Joshua Denny Dorsey that her great grandfather died in Salem, Oregon and had a wife named Rosilla West. This is all the information I have. Any information (census information, death information, where they might be buried, issue, etc.) about Joshua Denny and Rosilla Ann (West) Dorsey will be greatly appreciated. -- Dale West e-mail: dwest@banet.net Visit West Family Genealogy http://www.westfamilygenealogy.com -- Dale West e-mail: dwest@banet.net Visit West Family Genealogy http://www.westfamilygenealogy.com

Linda Hi, I have the Catholic Church Records for St. Paul, Champoeg Co. Oregon Territory. if they were Catholic and were buried between 1839 and 1898 They might be listed. Tell me the names and I will look it up for you. Eddiejo
Does any one know who is in charge of the Champoeg Cemetery. I have family buried there and am looking for the records of internment for them or the Funeral Home that handled the funerals. They would have been in the late 1800's to early 1900's. Thank you Linda LAUBREY1@aol.com
Hi - I'm searching for leads on the Jacques family as it descends into the McCullough family. Here's my information: Joseph Jacques (1832-1885) m Matilda Thomas (1850-1872/1876) in 1868. His second wife was Rebecca. Joseph and Matilda had two sons, Andrew Joseph, b.1870 d.1940 and Sidney b. 1872 d. 1938 Joseph and Sidney married Hanks sisters, Fanny and Mary. Joseph and Fanny (who died in 1963) had the following children: Joseph A. (1895-1989) - Douglas Co. Guy (died in early 1990s) - Yamhill Co. Bert (d. in 1970s) - Klamath Falls Mildred M. (who married a Wilson in California) Ethel (1899-1926) (who married an Isbell) Ethel had one child, Harriet Isbell, prior to her death. Joseph had two children, a Keith Jacques and a Betty, or later married a McCullough in Salem. At the time of his death there were grandchildren and ggrandchildren. Oh, and Joseph's second wife was named Arline. I don't know the name of his first wife. I have pictures of Fanny and Joseph, as well as of Joseph and Mildred with children. I have "holes" (missing puzzle pieces ? :) in my information, but i'd be happy to share all the information that i have. If anyone is familiar with this line, i'd love to hear from you! To All Whom It May Concern: Please be informed that you can now search part of The DESCRIPTIVE & HISTORICAL REGISTER of Enlisted Soldiers in the U.S. Army,.... for free at: The Buffalo Barracks Historical Web Site [ http://www.buffalonet.org/army ] This is an outstanding web site which includes the records of over 1,650 soldiers from all States and Territories who either served at, enlisted at, reenlisted at, or were discharged at the short lived Buffalo Barracks federal military post, between 1835 and 1846. Many of the men listed fought in the Florida Indian Wars, the War with Mexico, and then the Civil War. Perhaps you have an ancestor who was at the Buffalo Barracks? Discover how tall he was; the color of his hair and eyes; his age; where he was born; and even the complexion of his skin.....and more! Jim: There is no on-line index of this cemetery. I am not sure if I answered this already, but if you want to find these people the main Oregon Mailing list has a lot of helpful people on it. They also own a lot of reference books. You might be able to get your answer there. Let me know and I can tell you how to subscribe or I can put your query through the mailing list myself. Sorry, Should have added my name.. :-) I believe this Elizabeth WALKER was sister to my great grandfather. Lois Powell Benton City, WA LAPowell@aol.com
Looking for information on the William Johnson-Elizabeth Walker family. They were married in Marion County, adopted an infant girl named Rosetta whose mother had died.. William died in 1872 and Elizabeth was named guardian as Rosetta was co-beneficiary of William's will. Apparently there were no other children.
I am looking for help leading to information on David Ralph Marcrum. He was born in Arkansas on 2 Nov. 1916, and died on 28 May 1992. According to the SSDI, his last residence was the zip code area of Salem, Oregon. He was married to Ann ____. I am hoping to find someone who might be able to find an obituary for David Ralph Marcum, or inform me how and where to inquire about receiving one. As always, I am also searching for relatives of David Marcrum. Kind regards, Larry Milligan

Hi list! Could someone tell me how I can go about getting an obituary for a Roderick OLSEN? He was born in North Dakota on January 17, 1910 and died in Woodburn, OR in January 1971. Sorry, I don't know what day of the month. I would very much like to find anyone also researching this name. I don't know his wifes name but I believe he might have had 3 sons and possibly other family still living in the area. I would appreciate any information on this person. Thank you so much.
