Elizabeth J., born January 1848 in Oregon to both parents born in Missouri Edward F., son born November 1881 in Oregon, day laborer. Ida Bennett, daughter born January 1867, born in Oregon, divorced, mother of 2, one living. Chester H, grandson (of Henry), born October 1891 to father born in Indiana. The World War I Draft Registration Card image database shows Chester H. Bennett born October 16, 1891 in Lebanon, Oregon. He was a mechanic employed by Geo(rge) O Gorham, working and living in Harrisburg, Oregon. He had two years as a First Class ?Fireman". He was medium in height, stout in build, brown eyes, brown hair. He identified a disability of a hammer lock toe. He registered as required on June 5, 1917, the first National enlistment day...a national party. --In my MANY years of looking at this database, I've found a high percentage of persons having the wrong year of birth, most often by one year. Why? There were certain requirements for registering for the draft by birth of certain years. Some "may" have added years for draft purposes, some may have subtracted to avoid. I don't know, but the fact remains, they are often off by one year. The Oregon Marriage Index shows Chester H. Bennett marriage on 16 July 1917 in Linn County. Doing a cross check, the only other person marriage on that date in Linn County is a Mamie R. Piper. The 1930 Census has him living on Main street of Wichita, Clackamas Co, OR. He was 38, married at 25. Married to Mabel E, age 42, born in Canada. The census was enumerated on April 5th. After this, I can't find any notations in databases for them. I won't "guess" or "assume" as others... do. There could be many reasons they don't appear. The depression caused many to move. They "could" have moved to her family in Canada. Yes, they could have died, but because someone can't be found, you can't guess that. Since that USGennet.org website for Clackamas given by Judy doesn't work, try: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.washington.counties.klickitat/3410/mb.ashx They have a lookup and cemetery listing. The cemetery listing probably won't do you much help. The volunteer's probably won't have much to help either. Another potential help, the Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness has volunteers in Clackamas and Linn County (Very limited in Linn). I'd ask for a lookup in the city directories of of Clackamas. IF they lived there in 1930, a volunteer could follow them year by year until they disappeared. Sometimes children also appear in this alphabetical lists...but it doesn't appear they had children, at least by 1930. The City directories are not phone books, but a listing of persons living in a populated area. They could also check the Portland area. Don't give up.
