After 55 years of genealogical research, I certainly am aware of the necessity of checking and double checking sources. I am also aware of the importance of passing information on to others, which is something I do frequently. As I stated before, the items were scanned, and e-mailed within hours of my original posting. I am positive the person that received it will do their own in depth research, and will decide when or if they want to share it in an online forum. As for the "kink in the deal" concerning "female marriages" the hand written paper was simply one sheet of tablet paper with a list of Sarah Trout Martin b. 1830 d. 1878, a males name that I assume was her husband, their children and their birth dates. This I verified by census records. There was no mention of locations, and no marriages recorded. I also assumed it was old because of the beautiful, delicate handwriting which indicated to me that it was written by someone (female) with more than the average schooling. The paper is yellowed, the writing very light but not totally faded. The old testament appeared to be of the type given away at Sunday school. It has a stamped frontispiece which states "Presented by American Baptist Publication Society". The owners name was written in a "childish scrawl" and the date of June 1912. The drivers license had the name of a 16 year old male student with the identifying features of "hair and eye" color and stated he was qualified by the state of Oregon to drive a car. The pictures were partially burned, however, the faces were very clear, the wearing apparell indicated to me, it was probably taken in the era of 1918 to mid 1920s. It appeared to be taken on the steps of a family home although the house was not visable, just the porch and stairway. Oh, yes, lest I forget, there was also a cut out picture of a man in a coat, trousers and hat. Much like children use to cut from magazines to play paper dolls.
