    3. Musical entertainment, food, live theater and demonstrations of old time crafts will all be part of the 1999 Lebanon Founder's Day celebration on Saturday, August 14. Most evens will be held at Ralston Park. A few blocks away, downtown merchants will be celebrating with the annual summer sidewalk sale. This year marks 152 years since Jeremiah and Jemima Ralston and thei family settled in what is now Lebanon. The days' events start with a pancake breakfast put on by St. Martin's Episcopal Church from 7:30-9:30 a.m. The offical opening ceremony will be at 9:45 a.m. with the singing of our national anthem by Anthony Rieke. Free entertainment will follow until 4 p.m. at the Ralston Park gazebo. Jerry Freeman will be emcee for the day. The schedule is as follows: Stan Hoffman, jazz pianist, at 10 a.m. Attitudes dance group performing jazz and hip hop at 11 a.m. Cascades Performing Arts dancers at 12 noon Linn County Swingers at 1 and 2 p.m. Willamette Boys and Girls Choir at 3 p.m. Stan Hoffman at 3:30 p.m. One of the highlights of will be a living history performance by the Marble Gardens Theatre Troupe and local talent at the Pioneer Cemetery at Carolina and Dodge Streets. The cemetery play provides an opportunity to see and hear actors portray the Ralstons and other early Lebanon pioneers. The play is free and open to the public. The time for the performance has not yet been announced. [NOTE: This is a GREAT performance and well worth seeing!!] In addition to an old fashioned picnic put on by the Chamber of Commerce, lunch will be available at a variety of food booths. Demonstrations of spinning and other pioneer skills, quilt displays and craft booths will be featured throughout the day. The Ralston family home stood on the corner of Park and Maple Streets, on the site of Ralston Park, until it was torn down in the 1950's. Jan Phillips [email protected]
