April 15 1943 issue Scio Tribune "Lifelong Resident Dies Following long illlness Funeral services for Henry C. Miller, 80 were held at the Christian church in the city Sunday afternoon, followed by burial in the Franklin Butte cemetery near here. The Rev. Emmett Rickard of Lebanon, pastor of the local Christian Church and the Rev. V.L. Loucks, Scio Baptist minister had charge of the services. The Lowe mortuary of Scio and Lebanon directed. Mr. Miller died at the farm home of his son, O.W. Miller, near Scio April 10, 1943, following a lingering illness of several years. He was born on the Gib Pruitt farm near Scio, within a few hundred yards of his resting place. He had spent most of his life as a farmer and stockman in the immediate vicinity. He was a member of the Scio Christian church. He served as city marshall for a time a number of years ago. Survivors include the following named sons and daughters, Clarence of Eugene, Ore, Mrs. Cressie McDonald and Mrs. Idella Van Meter of Redmond,Ore, Walter of Scio, Mrs. Fay Isaacson of Stockton, Cal; Earl of Prineville, Ore. Brothers and sisters of the deceased are Mrs. Nancy Arnold, of Albany, Mrs. A.I. Arnold, Mrs. Maggie Neal, Mrs. Charles Rhoda and William W. Miller all of Scio; Mrs. Ida Shelton of Monroe, Ore, Mrs. Emma Curl of Corvallis, Ore. 24 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Mr. millers wife died 13 years ago at Scio. At the rites the Rev. Wm. Richardson, pastor of the Crabtree Church was soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Glen Thurston. Mrs. Clinton Parker, Mrs. E.D. Myers and Mrs. E. Phillips composed the flower committee. Bearers were grandsons of the deceased as follows; Hershel Miller, Scio, Ray Miller, Lloyd Miller, Monroe, Owen Miller, Byron McDonald, Portland; Keith McDonald, Lebanon."
