correction on Obituary of Ed Roberts. He was born August 14,1888...not 1883 August 10 1961 issue Scio Tribune Geo. W. Piatt, 85, Dies in Missouri George W. Piatt, 85, long a resident of Scio-Shelburn community, but who had resided in Charleston, Missouri the last eight years, passed away at the latter place on July 31, 1961. Born July 4, 1876 in Washington, County, Oregon, he was a son of Ephraim and Eliza Piatt, and they, too resided many years in this area before their deaths. George Piatt was married in Missouri to Cora Blackledge, and they came to Scio, Oregon to make their home. Their home place was two miles northwest of Scio. Mrs. Piatt passed away about 1950. A few years later Mr. Piatt went to Missouri and remained there near a niece of his deceased wife. He maintained a keen interest in occurrences around Scio, and wrote an occasional letter to the local newspaper, The Scio Tribune, which was always pubished herein. Record states that he was a member of the First Christian Church in Charleston, Mo., and of the IOOF and Rebekah lodges in Scio. Funeral service was held in Charleston, and the body was shipped to Oregon and private burial was made Tuesday forenoon this week in Miller Cemetery near Scio, which cemetery was close to his long-time home here. Huston Funeral Home of Lebanon received only a private burial directive from an undertaking company in Missouri, and the remains were buried upon its arrival.
