Surnames: McCartney Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/zcB.2ACI/911.1 Message Board Post: I was curious if anyone has information on the Scio-area mill built and or owned by Nathaniel McCartney, which is mentioned in the attached will. Nathaniel's claim was located just outside Scio on Crabtree Creek, which doesn't seem large enough to provide hydro-power for a mill. I suspect that a mill would have been located near the current bridge in the present town of Scio. That location seems ideal for damming and mill operations. Nathaniel was a member of the Oddfellows and arrived in Oregon in August of I852. I'd appreciate any feedback on this mill. John Eielson McCartney, Seattle
