In the name of God Amen - To all whom this may concern, Know ye that I Nathaniel McCartney, of the County of Linn and Territory of Oregon do make this my last will and testament, to wit, I give and bequeath to my dear wife Abigail McCartney [Abigail M Parker b: 06 Jan 1820 New Jersey d: 06 Mar 1864 Chico, Calif] all of my property both real and personal situated in the county and Territory aforesaid (or elsewhere) that is to say, lands goods chattels moneys, and all things else whatsoever of every name and nature without any reservation whatever, to all intents and purposes as hereby expressed, to have and to hold the same in her own right so long as she shall be and remain my widow. Provided She my dear Wife Abigail McCartney in consideration of the above bequest shall maintain or bring up all of my dear children, during their minority, and educate them to the extent of her ability or means for accomplishing the same. and further my desire that my wife Abigail McCartney shall administer my estate, and that the property known as the Mill property shall be disposed of as early as convenient or practicable after my decease, and the proceeds thereof applied for the use and of my dear wife and children. His Oregon Donation Land Claim #2167 was located just southeast of Scio on Crabtree Creek.]
