White (with thanks to the Lebanon Public Library for their quick response): The Lebanon Express, Thurday, August 4, 1960, page 3 Rosary Friday For John White Rosary will be read for John Rice White who died Aug. 1 at Marian Nursing Home at Sublimity, at 8:30 p.m. Friday at Huston Chapel. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Edward's Catholic Church. Mr. White had been at the nursing home for the past three months. His home was at 370 A St. He was born March 30, 1873 in Iowa and had been in Oregon 40 years. He came to the Lebanon area from Gresham. He was a farmer and a member of St. Edward's and of the church altar society. Nov. 22, 1947, he married Mary E. Arehart, who survives him, in Lebanon. Other survivors include daughters, May Rodgers of Costa Mesta [should be Costa Mesa], Calif., Dora Bonder [or Boender; see below] of Gresham, stepchildren, Herman Reister and Jess Arehart, of Lebanon, Marie Reynolds of Crawfordsville, Doris Holman of Coos Bay and LaDonna Yoder of California, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The Rev. Pius Baur will officiate. Burial will be at the IOOF Cemetery. **** The library volunteer couldn't find an obituary for Nellie Glenn White, but sent a copy of the Record of Funeral from the Howe Funeral Home. Nellie was born 1 Jan 1882 [in Iowa per census records] and died 18 Apr 1937 in Lebanon. She had resided in Oregon for 12 years. Her parents were John Glenn, birthplace Iowa, and Mary Leonard, birthplace not given. The funeral was paid for by John Boender. --Linda
