Brownsville Times Nov 14, 1913 AGED PIONEER IS DEAD Luther White Passes at His Home in Brownsville--Nearly 99 years of Age Luther White, a prominent pioneer resident of this city and Linn County since 1847, passed away at his home on the South Side Thursday at about noon, following an illness of several months. This aged pioneer, who had he lived until January 20, 1913, would have attained the remarkable age 99 years, has resided in Brownsville since 1875. He came to Oregon in 1847, locating on a donation land claim eight miles south of Brownsville, which he still owned at the time of his death. He is survived by two children, Miss Rosie B.White of this city, and R. L. White, who resides on his father's farm south of Brownsville. A more extended obituary of the life of this well known and highly respected pioneer will be published in next week's Times. The funeral will be held form the family home tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock, followed by interment in the family cemetery on the old homestead.
