Jan 1981 Valera McDonald Shedd-A longtime postmistress at Shedd, Valera McDanald, 86 31888 Fayetteville Dr, died Wednesday at a local care center of cancer. Miss McDonald retired in 1965 after 22 years as a postal employee. Services will be at noon Saturday at Fisher Funeral Home. The Rev.. Ralph Ohling will officiate and burial will follow at Harmony Cemetery near Buell. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Miss McDonald was born Dec 22, 1894, at Gervais, and had lived at Sheridan, Lorane and Cottage Grove before moving to Shedd in 1915. A Cottage Grove High School graduate, Miss McDonald has been a member of the United Methodist Church, Neighbors of Woodcraft, and National League of Postmasters. Survivors include one brother, Hubert McDonald; one nephew Melvin McDonal, both of Shedd; four nieces, Alice Wright, Canby, Eleanor Wetgen, Halsey, Carol Conan, Roseburg and Annette Rossback, Albany; and 11 great-nephews and nieces. A brother, Herbert McDonald and a sister, Maude Dairymple, died earlier.
