Nathaniel McCartney letters Territory of Oregon County of Linn The United States of America to all persons to whom these presents shall come greetings; Know ye that whereas Stephen Stewart late of the County of Linn, in the Territory of Oregon, died intestate [ without a will ] as it is said, having property at the time of his death in the said County of Linn, which may be lost, destroyed, or diminished in value if speedy care is not taken of the same, To the end therefore that the said property may be collected, preserved, and disposed of according to law, I do hereby appoint Nathaniel McCartney administrator of all and singular, the goods and chattels, rights and credits, which were of the said Stephen Stewart at the time of his death, with full power and authority to secure and dispose of said property according to law, and collect all monies due said deceased, and in general to and perform all other acts and things, which are or hereafter may be required of him by law. In testimony whereof I S.D.
