    3. Hi According to the book Oregon Geographic Names: James John came to Oregon in 1843 He operated a ferry(1852) and died(28 May 1886 in the area that bears his name. For the history see the Oregonian Aug 29 1907, pt II Mar 29 1903 p40, may 29, 1886 p.5.
