You know, I think my Great grandfather was a Ferry Operator or some kind of ship operator in this area (St. John's?) near Sauvies Island (Portland, OR) which I think is in the St. Johns area. His name was Cortis BILYEU; Cortis Cleveland BILYEU, b 22 Jul 1883 Scio, Linn, OR; d 16 Apr 1931 Kalama, Cowlitz, WA; bur 19 Apr 1931 Kalama IOOF Cem, Kalama, Cowlitz, WA. He m Cora Cathern GILLIHAN 25 Dec 1908 Cowlitz Co, WA; they divorced. Cora, dau. of Edwin (Edward / Edmund?) GILLIHAN & Anna Rebecca "Annie" LEONARD, b 23 Dec 1887 Sauvie/Portland, Multnomah, OR; d 14 Jan 1981 Federal Way, King, WA; bur 19 Jan 1981 Price Helton Fun, Auburn, King Co, WA. Cortis parents/grand parents and great grandparents traveled the Oregon Trail in 1852 to Linn Co, OR! I remember my grandmother telling me his death was due to something falling on him on a boat/ship in this area and he died a few days later due to this accident, he was only 48.
