John was born Sept. 27, 1977 in Traverse City, Mich. to Alaine "Jody" Almon Seward and John E. Seward. The family moved to Sweet Home in 1980. He was 1996 a graduate of Sweet Home High School where he had a passion for and lettered all four years in swimming and three in water polo. He was a life guard and swim instructor. He was a team captain three years. He was on the district Championship team three years. John loved to be outdoors, hunting, fishing, skiing, camping, riding at the dunes and most especially being out on the lake in a boat with friends. John worked in a variety of settings, suspended ceilings, painting motor coaches, county parks, Safeway of Albany, and most recently working at the Town Pump is Sweet Home and Chevron in Lebanon where he enjoyed his brief but animated conversations with those who came in for service. Every one who knew him appreciated and enjoyed his incredible capacity for laughter and intensely fraternal love in each of his friendships. John had a remarkably intense, enthusiastic zest for fun. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Stephanie Almon; and an unborn child known as Francis. He is survived by his parents, of Sweet Home; brother James Michael Seward of Sweet Home; sister Marie Therese Ramos of Lebanon; grandfather Al Almon of Gaylord; nephews, Dakota and Rafael, and niece Jamie. A Mass of Resurrection followed by a memorial sharing and reception was held Saturday April 14 at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Lebanon. Inurnment will take place at Gilliland Cemetery at a later date with his close friends and family. In lieu of flowers the family invites contributions made out to Jody Seward, 201 Nandina St. Sweet Home Oregon 97386 that will be placed in a memorial scholarship fund being set up in John's name to be awarded to a Sweet Home High School swimmer.
