The UW library has a copy of the book. I'll look up the interview you mention. Nathaniel McCartney would have had his mill in the early 1850s, somewhere in the Scio area. I'm just wondering if it was near his property on Crabtree Creek or on the larger waterway in present Scio. Looking at some historic mill images, it seems Crabtree Creek may have been large enough to sustain a mill operation. Nathaniel's mill was sold for $600 after his death on 7 JUN 1856. But I haven't yet determined who purchased it. John McCartney
