I hadn't run into it yet. Does anyone know the title of the John Densmore book? What I've noted so far is that Joab Powell Sr. handled Nathaniel McCartney's probate after he died 07 Jun 1856. In the 1860 census, Joab Powell Jr. listed his occupation as "miller." I've just learned that Nathaniel's father, William C McCartney, built the first mill in Sound Bend, Ind., in 1831.
