I ran across an old picture of the school house, it was a scary looking three-story building with a turret for the bell in the middle. So I unfortunately found no one at the time who wanted them. As for my surnames, I have been doing research for several years on all 10 families, came over the Oregon Trail 1845-1853, and do have lots........my family says tooo much information as I have a tall 4 drawer steel file cabinet, and a huge collection of antique photos, my main aim there is Oregon and WA, but only have about 100 of the total of 500. A lot of the photos do not unfortunately have names...darn. So I am going to a huge reunion at Scio,Linn Co this fall, as that is where I was raised. My gr grandparents settled in Blachly, where my grandmother Thella Rust was born, my mother and I was born in Eugene in hospital, but my parents at the time lived in Blachly. So I have a go! od deal of backgraound in Oregon and WA, my father was born there. There is a lot written and recorded on Bilyeu. I believe that you will find Alford in some census records being spelled Alvord, too, on census and old surveyor maps. As for Van Cleave: I had not researched them and am unrelated, but recognize the surname from other research in records and old maps, too. You perhaps should consult Linn County Historical Society on this family and especially that suitcase of old photos, or try the museum at Brownsville, too. Don Houk in Tokyo houk.don@jp.kline.com -----Original Message----- From: orlinn-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:orlinn-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Joy Stalnaker Sent: Friday, May 18, 2007 1:05 AM To: ORLINN@rootsweb.com Subject: [ORLINN] Asa PETERSON - HUTCHINGS Today while searching for a death date and/or obit for Henry J. PETERSON, b. Virginia (now West Virginia) and d. Linn County, OR, I found an obituary for Dr. Asa Peterson, Henry's son, posted by Jane HUTCHINGS. Hopefully Jane or someone else who may know about the PETERSONs and PETERSONS BLUFF will respond to this. Henry J. PETERSON was born in what is now Pendleton, West Virginia, which was then a part of Virginia, about 1796; he was a son of William and Mary (BENNETT) PETERSON. In 1802, the PETERSON family moved to Harrison (now Lewis) County, (West) Virginia, where in February 1821, Henry J. married Eliza Allen. Thanks to a book "Genealogical Records and Sketches of the Descendents (sic) of Lawrens Peterson and Nancy Jones-Peterson, who Planted the Fmaily Tree in America Before the Revolutionary War", I know a good deal about the family. Because the book was compiled mostly by the family who had migrated to Oregon and Missouri, there are many holes in the story, particularly concerning the family left behind in West Virginia. That's where I come in. My husband is a descendant of William Bennett Peterson, one of Henry J.'s brothers. I am also transcribing and annotating and will cause to be published 145+ Civil War era letters written by various members of the family. Consequently, I'm seeking to learn more about the early family. At the moment I am looking for the death date and burial place of Henry J. Peterson. I find him living (in Linn) in 1850 and 1860. In 1850 he is listed with his wife, Eliza , and children Wm. A., Sarah, Marshall, Laura, Martha, Henry, and dau. Eliza. In 1860, I find Henry, Eliza and three children: Martha, Henry B., and Eliza in the household. Any help with this would be appreciated. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to ORLINN-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

I am interested in finding out more about Pearl Vera Moore Truitt, who was married to Clarence Earl Truitt. All I know is she was born on 09-April-1904 in Buena Vista, Polk, Oregon, to Charles Franklin and Jessie Daisy Layfield Moore. Clarence and Pearl were married 16-September-1920 in Benton County, Oregon. Pearl died in Albany, Linn, Oregon. I know that Clarence and Pearl had several children including one named Arletha. That is all I know but would like to find out more, especially when Clarence and Pearl died and where they are buried. Thanks for any help you can give me. Shirley in Henrietta, Texas
