Hi, Thanks to the monumental efforts of Charles Roberts, I am proud to announce the Riverside Cemetery in Albany, Oregon is online. This cemetery has over 5,100 burials and it took a lot of hard work to type it all in. Thanks, Charles! http://www.rootsweb.com/~orlinn/riverside/rsidea.html Linn County now has links to 20 cemeteries transcribed and online, with more to come when it's not so muddy. http://www.rootsweb.com/~orlinn/cemeteries.html Jan Phillips [email protected] Linn County Coordinator for the USGenWeb Project

Sept 24 1942 issue Scio Tribune Scio Woman's Brother Thought Killed in Action Mrs. P.W. Schrunk of Scio this week received information unofficially indicating the death of her brother Major Jack Wilson Berry, army flier in Africa, Australia and other battlefronts since December last. Press dispatches this week carried the following announcement: General McArthur's Headquarters, Australia, Sept 20-General MacArthur Sunday awarded the distinguished service cross to Captain Robert L. Morrisey of Tecemseh, Neb and the distinguished flying cross to Major Jack W. Berry of Scio, Or. Berry's decoration conferred posthusmously, was for "extraordinary achievements" in ferry command work between December 1941 and March 1942. "As a co-pilot of a ferry command place,"the citation said "Berry flew the south Atlantic and across Africa to Cairo, Eygpt, early in December. Thereafter, with high officers and passengers, he flew to Iraq and Iran and to Karachi, India and Rangoon, Burma. "Late in December and January, Berry flew across Sumatra and Java to Darwin. Early in March, Berry rendered conspicuous service by frequent flights between Bandoeng, Java, and Broome, Australia, evacuating to safety in the face of intense enemy action many allied officers and nationals. When need arose he flew day and night, at times without assistance of a co-pilot and with complete disregard for fatigue and personal safety."

Does anybody know the current hours of the Brownsville Museum and the genealogy section of the Lebanon Library. I plan on coming down on a research trip on Thursday and would like to visit both. Also, what is the address of the Museum in Brownsville? I have never been there, but I understand that there are files with family information available there? Bev Vancouver, WA
Another new Linn County cemetery on-line: http://www.rootsweb.com/~orlinn/wisnercem.html Wisner Cemetery is located just a few miles SE of Stayton. Thanks go to Cathy Morgan for surveying this cemetery last week and donating it to the Linn County GenWeb. Next in line is Riverside Cemetery in Albany.
