    1. Re: [ORLINN] Linn County Cemetyeries
    2. I've been to Franklin Butte and Liberty Baptist if you need help on getting there. I have relatives in each of these. If you need to check with info on Liberty Baptist, the guy who "tends" it is a young guy and he also tends the Gilliland Cemetery (opposite end of Sweet Home than Liberty Baptist). He tends other cemeteries too. You can get the ph. # for Gilliland Cemetery by calling "information." He is always there daily, but makes trips to the other cemeteries he "tends" so there is no one at the other cemeteries regularly. Once I called him on a relative of mine in Liberty Baptist and I could see him "picturing" where he "mows the grass" and he went out of his way to help me. And too, I have met him when we went down to Sweet Home and he got out the 'ole wooden board" and helped find ALL of our relatives in Gilliland. Even drove us to where they were (we followed his car.) So- I'd try the LInn County Web page like Lisa suggested. I find TONS on there and then call that guy. He may even know who "tends" the others. If you need Crawfordsville Cemetery= "Ernestine Hipp" has all the records for that and she lives in Sweet Home. I just talked to her yesterday and she is so very nice. Good luck- and let us know if you find your relatives! Deana Campbell Tigard, Oregon

    1. [ORLINN] Spray Family
    2. Dear Kim Regarding your note to the Linn County Rootsweb. I can't help you with the Thorton's, sorry. But I'm wondering if you can help me with the Spray family. My Lucinda Spray was born about 1821 also in Iowa, same as your Martha Jane Spray. We also know her daughter Hannah Barnes was born in Iowa in 1849. Lucinda's Spray family could have still been in Iowa at the time of your Martha's birth. Also, Adam and Lucinda were in the Linn County, Oregon 1860 Census. Lots of similarities or just coincidence? Adam and Lucinda were my ggrandparents. Can you assist me? Or tell me who might. Thanks in advance... 3. You know, I think my Great grandfather was a Ferry Operator or some kind of ship operator in this area (St. John's?) near Sauvies Island (Portland, OR) which I think is in the St. Johns area. His name was Cortis BILYEU; Cortis Cleveland BILYEU, b 22 Jul 1883 Scio, Linn, OR; d 16 Apr 1931 Kalama, Cowlitz, WA; bur 19 Apr 1931 Kalama IOOF Cem, Kalama, Cowlitz, WA. Cortis parents/grand parents and great grandparents traveled the Oregon Trail in 1852 to Linn Co, OR! I remember my grandmother telling me his death was due to something falling on him on a boat/ship in this area and he died a few days later due to this accident, he was only 48.
